Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatments

When you come for your first appointment, be sure to bring:

A list of all current drugs you're taking.
Your health insurance card.
Details about any health conditions you have.

We'll first assess your needs and strengths.

We'll also ask you about the people in your life that you're close to, and the role they'll play in your recovery.

Mental health assessment

Sometimes, substance use disorders exist along with other mental health issues.

These include depression, anxiety, and other psychological disorders.

Learning about these issues helps our team provide the right care and support.

Addiction counseling

In one-on-one therapy with a trained addiction counselor, you'll explore:

Reasons and behaviors that led to your substance use disorder.
New ways to cope with substance use triggers.
Lifestyle changes that support a healthy life without drugs or alcohol.

In group counseling, you'll share issues and insights with others recovering from addiction.

Family therapy focuses on your relationships with your loved ones and how they impact your behavior.

Certified Peer Advocates, people in long-term recovery trained to offer support, are another resource for you.

Medication

Medication-assisted treatment along with therapy helps you withdraw from drugs or alcohol and cope with the symptoms of withdrawal.

Based on your needs and addiction, your doctor may use medicines including:

Naltrexone, including vivitrol, for alcohol and drug disease.
Buprenorphine, including sublocade, for opioid-use disorders (OUD).

Please talk to your provider about other medications that are offered in our program.Your doctor will decide if these drugs are the right treatment for you. If you have other mental health issues, such as depression, your doctor might also prescribe

drugs to treat these conditions.
