UPMC Community Osteopathic, UPMC Lititz receive UPMC Health Plan Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Centers of Excellence designation

HARRISBURG, Pa. — UPMC Health Plan has recognized UPMC Community Osteopathic and UPMC Lititz as Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Centers of Excellence. The designation is given to orthopaedic surgeons and facility staff with a record of high-quality patient outcomes, low complication rates, and an outstanding patient experience for patients who need their joints replaced.

Hip and knee joint replacement are among the most frequently performed orthopaedic surgeries in the United States, but only 15 hospitals in the state of Pennsylvania have been given UPMC Health Plan’s Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Centers of Excellence designation. Recognized physicians and surgical facilities have low complication rates, low hospital readmissions and overall high-quality outcome scores for their patients after joint replacement surgery.
