Amit Tevar, MD, MBA

Amit Tevar, M.D., M.B.A., is the surgical director of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program at UPMC and a professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is board-certified in multi-organ transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His clinical focus includes solid organ transplantation, minimally invasive surgery and hepatobiliary surgery.

Dr. Tevar is a clinician-scientist whose research is focused on understanding the role of B cells in the progression of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis liver disease with the goal of developing non-invasive tests to diagnose liver fibrosis and identify patients who will proceed to cirrhosis.

Dr. Tevar received his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at Indiana University, where he served as chief resident. He completed fellowship training in multi-organ transplant surgery at the University of Chicago and the University of Cincinnati.
