​Dr. Lave directs the Health Administration Program at Pitt and the Pennsylvania Medicaid Policy Center. She co-directs Pitt’s Center for Research on Health Care and also instructs classes in business administration, economics and psychiatry. Her research interests include health care financing, health insurance, health care for children, cost of illness, economics of health care, and costs of graduate medical education.

Dr. Lave was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy for Social Insurance. She is a distinguished fellow of Academy Health, a national health series and policy research organization, and on the Technical Advisory Group for the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council, as well as the Board of Health Services for the National Academy of Medicine (formally the Institute of Medicine). She is the author of more than 140 publications.

Dr. Lave earned her MA and PhD in economics from Harvard University.
