Thomas J. Thompson serves as vice president of Pharmacy Services at UPMC Hamot. In this capacity, he has primary oversight for the hospital pharmacy and Bayside Pharmacy. His role, as is all pharmacists', is to ensure the safe use of medication.

Mr. Thompson graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. He earned a master's of science in clinical and hospital pharmacy from Ohio State University and an MBA from Bowling Green State University. He completed a residency in hospital pharmacy practice at Riverside Methodist Hospital in 1980.

Mr. Thompson is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Society of Healthsystem Pharmacists. He is also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
