Cytopathology

UPMC Content 3

Cytopathology is a branch of pathology that analyzes abnormalities on an individual cellular level.

Our cytopathologists examine the individual cells in samples taken by swab or needle aspiration by us or your doctor from various areas of the body.

By identifying and interpreting any abnormalities in these cells, we can diagnose various disease conditions in that organ system.

Our cytopathologists are highly skilled in examining cells in liquid medium or aspirated from tissues.

We use a wide variety of tests to produce detailed and relevant results that provide the answers you and your doctors need.
