Applying to the Clinical Informatics Fellowship

Fellow Requirements

  • Applicants must complete an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) residency in any specialty prior to the July 1 start date of the fellowship, unless ACGME has a specific exception for the applicant’s current residency program.
  • Applicants must have license to practice medicine and be eligible for a PA training license or full license.
  • Successful applicants must possess a strong interest in academic careers, either as an educator or an investigator; and must be board eligible or board certified in their primary specialty.
  • Applicants do not need any prior formal training in informatics or computer science.
  • It is highly recommended that applicants continue to practice in their primary specialty during this fellowship.

The Application Process

  • Applications should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) in the cycle beginning in July. The application deadline is October 1. Interviews will occur from September to November. We participate in the AMIA Clinical Informatics Fellowship Match which culminates in mid-December.
  • Applications must include:
    • CV
    • Personal Statement (1-2 page)
    • Three letters of recommendation, including a letter from your division/department head or program director
    • Medical School Transcript
    • MSPE/Dean’s Letter from Medical School
    • USMLE Transcript
