Dr. Nace leads and collaborates on a variety of studies on adverse drug events, safety culture, antibiotic resistance, vaccine effectiveness and quality assessment and improvement. His interests include the improvement of prevention, detection and management of influenza and other common long term care infections. In this vein, he focuses on dementia care, palliative care, medication errors and patient safety, osteoporosis in long term care, and methods for fostering organizational change to achieve better quality care.

Dr. Nace has received grants supporting his work from the Claude D. Pepper Older American Independence Center, the Josiah Macy Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, among others.

He received his Doctor of Medicine from Temple University, and his Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh.
