Post-Anesthesia Care Unit at UPMC Shadyside

After receiving anesthesia for a surgery or procedure, patients recover and wake up in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) at UPMC Shadyside.

The PACU is a critical care unit staffed by skilled nurses who have experience in recognizing and managing problems in patients after receiving anesthesia. They closely monitor patients’ vital signs, fluid status, and begin pain management.

At UPMC Shadyside’s PACU, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our patients.
