Ireland: Cancer Center

UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre

In 2006, using UPMC’s successful, integrated model of cancer care, UPMC CancerCenter opened its doors abroad with its first international cancer center, UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre in Waterford, Ireland.

UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre brings cutting-edge radiation therapy to residents of the Southeast region of Ireland, and was created to meet the need for radiotherapy services where access to state-of-the-art radiation therapy treatment is greatly needed. This location, like the US-based network locations, is built on UPMC's "hub and spoke" model, which gives patients being treated at Whitfield access to the expertise and technology available at Hillman CancerCenter.

UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre prides itself on being dedicated to quality improvement and patient safety. International accreditation was granted by Joint Commission International (JCI) in 2008. The ethos of the Centre has always been to provide a patient-focused service, and feedback from patients is a crucial part of development. UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre is committed to delivering the highest standard of radiation therapy and supportive care for patients with all types of cancer.
