Volumes and Outcomes at UPMC's Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplantation Center (IRTC)
Since the IRTC's inception in 1990, more than 500 adult and pediatric patients have received life-changing intestinal and multivisceral transplants.
As pioneers in the field of solid-organ transplantation, our surgeons and specialists:
- Consistently accept some of the most difficult and complex cases.
- Use what they learn from these complex cases to develop new and improved treatments for intestinal failure.
- Offer patients optimal care, regardless of their prognosis or the severity of their intestinal condition.
Intestinal Transplant Outcomes
Historically, our transplant outcomes have been above national averages.
Visit the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) to view specific information about our outcomes, including one-year and three-year survival rates of our intestinal transplant recipients.
