Benevolent Care Fund and Community Outreach

At UPMC Senior Services, we are committed to providing the highest quality of care possible for older adults — regardless of their ability to pay.

This includes our Benevolent Care Program for eligible seniors living in one of our 17 senior retirement communities who are depleting their financial resources as well as a variety of critical community outreach programs for eligible seniors living in their own home.

Life Enrichment Program Endowment Provides exceptional social experiences that are above and beyond expected activities.

Interfaith Pastoral Care and Education Programs at Canterbury Place

Program About
Interfaith Pastoral Care Program Helps meet the spiritual needs of our residents and their families at Canterbury Place.
Interfaith Pastoral Care Education Program Gives graduate students in theology, social work, and medical studies from local seminaries and universities, the opportunity to gain practical experience working with seniors at Canterbury Place.

UPMC Community Outreach for Seniors

Program About
Aging Institute Information and Referral Line Supports the call center that provides seniors and their caregivers with access to information, services, and resources.
Living-At-Home Program Helps support case management for ongoing in-home care of disadvantaged older adults.
Ask-The-Nurse Provides geriatric registered nurse educators who visit senior high rises and senior centers to conduct health education, flu shot clinics and health screenings.
Disability Aids Program Provides eligible seniors with assistive devices so they can navigate their homes more safely and avoid possible injury as a result of falls or medication errors.
Respite Care Program Gives unpaid caregivers a short break or “respite” from the care they provide to eligible physically or cognitively-impaired elderly family members.
Rodaitis Geriatric Program at UPMC Shadyside Benefits older adults of the Senior Care Institute of Shadyside who receive financial support for medical equipment, transportation, and other costs for medical services.
