As a comprehensive system of referral, evaluation, treatment, and long-term care, we offer access to the most promising potential treatments for life-altering injuries — especially for those patients who have exhausted conventional treatment options.

Bridging the Gap between Research and Clinical Trials

The Center for Innovation in Restorative Medicine is leading the effort to accelerate the:

  • Development of new regenerative medicine technologies, devices, and reconstructive treatment strategies.
  • Process between taking research to the clinical trials phase.

When we're presented with an unmet clinical need, our experts develop a comprehensive plan that includes data research and analysis, and extensive regenerative medicine treatment options and technologies.

This strategy of bridging the gap between research and clinical trials can reduce the five- to eight-year launch of a Phase 1 clinical trial to just two to three years.

Collaborative Approach to Regenerative Medicine

The UPMC Center for Innovation in Restorative Medicine works with organizations throughout the United States and the world to develop clinical trials that will help change the face of regenerative medicine.

Our largest partner, the United States Department of Defense, utilizes the expertise, technologies, and treatments available at our center to fulfill the clinical needs of wounded military personnel. Our experts have successfully researched and developed several clinical trials that have benefited many wounded soldiers and helped them return to leading normal lives.
