​Free Care Clinic

The Heart and Vascular Institute provides cardiology services one day a month at the Birmingham Free Care Clinic (BFC), located on Pittsburgh's South Side. 
 
The BFC, which is run by the University of Pittsburgh's Program for Health Care to Underserved Populations, serves the region’s uninsured, working class, and other medically vulnerable groups.
 
A volunteer staff of cardiology fellows provides:
 
  • Health screenings
  • On-site specialty consult services for cardiology
  • Chronic disease management for a variety of heart-related conditions, including hypertension
  • Medication access and management
