Research and Advanced Technology for Improved Patient Care
The physicians and scientists at the HCM Center are actively involved in ongoing research to advance patient care and develop new treatment options based on the latest research protocols.
- Advanced Cardiac Imaging Program: Specialists use new diagnostic technologies, available at only a handful of centers in the world. State-of-the-art ultrasound systems include harmonic imaging, real time 3-D imaging, and tissue Doppler imaging. These technologies allow our physicians to obtain sophisticated measures of cardiac function that, in the past, could only be obtained using invasive procedures.
- The Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Center's 1.5 Tesla wide-bore system, allows physicians to image a broad range of patients comfortably. The Center uses the latest pulse sequences available, which allow precise characterization of the cardiac anatomy — critical information in the diagnosis and management of HCM.
- Cardiovascular Genetics Center: Specialists provide expertise in genetic diagnosis and counseling, as well as access to cutting-edge genetic research, for patients and their families.
